Why our krill?

Dear Customer,

Before giving you all the information, just remember, there will always be consumers who are driven by price and price alone. Our krill is not the cheapest, but our quality is far superior and really should be in a category all to its own. Allow me to explain.

When purchasing krill oil, an important question to ask is: “Is it pure?” There are many species of krill (about 85) and just as many methods of extraction and processing. Just like the motor oil used in your car, there are many different “grades” of the oil as well. The higher the grade, the better the results. To answer the first question, yes, our krill is pure and of the highest quality available.

To illustrate this point, let me give you a little explanation about krill, where it comes from, and how it is processed. We use the Antarctic krill (E. Superba) which we believe to be the most potent and pure species on the planet.

There are really only 5 or 6 harvesters of krill in the world. The harvesting of the particular species that we use from the Antarctic is closely regulated by CAAMLAR (an agency similar in purpose to Fish and Game). They (CAAMLAR) only allow so many licenses to harvest krill and only allow so many tons of the species to be harvested in a particular season. They also regulate the methods of harvesting, waste, environmental issues, etc.

This way they help to keep the pristine waters of the Antarctic, as well as the krill population in control.

The ships that harvest the krill are literally floating factories. They cost several million dollars and they employ hundreds of people on each ship.

There are really only two ways to extract the oil out of krill. One would be right there where you are harvesting it. This would require an enormous floating factory and lots more workers. It would be very expensive. The other way to process the krill would be to bring them on board the ship, freeze them in a huge freezer, ship the frozen blocks back to the companies factories and extract the oil there. This is the method of choice of most of these processors. We have been told it is less expensive to do it this way and more environmentally friendly.

The major player, which are those who have the licenses to harvest the krill come from all over the world, Israel, Norway, Japan, Russia, etc.

I know the answer is a little long but I felt you would appreciate the explanation. In short, we have researched all of the main suppliers and have established quality relationships with those who provide the product for us. We are comfortable knowing they are providing the purest, richest, strongest form of krill oil available to us at the present time.

Incidentally, we have met with most, if not all, of these main players in krill extraction. Many of them have been to our office. You may find hundreds of “producers” or “suppliers” or “handlers” of krill oil, but in short, there are only a handful of companies (5 or 6) who are licensed to harvest krill. All others have to get their oils from them.

One supplier “chops” the krill right there freezes it into huge blocks and then they send it back to their plants in Norway. When they get it back to their plant, they extract the oil from the chopped meal. Something in this process does not produce as high a quality of oil. We don’t know why, we just know that it doesn’t.

When comparing grades of oil, the part that you want to compare is the EPA, DHA, Astaxanthin and Phosphatydlcholine. This is what makes the difference in the oil. Our krill has a higher concentration of these ingredients than any other krill oil available out there.

We have had individuals that have taken our product, found that it worked wonderfully for them, saw the cheaper bottles on the shelves of the drug store, dropped ours, bought theirs, came back after a couple of months begging for ours because they knew it worked and the “cheaper” grade did not.

I hope this provides you the information you will need to enable you to buy our product with confidence. It is the very best krill oil in the world!!!
